A competent workforce is essential for aquaculture to progress


This report summarises the opinion survey results regarding education and training in aquaculture. The data has been gathered using a combination of survey methods, starting with ONE2ACT Eval instant response tool during the meeting and followed by the Lime Survey system at the end of the meeting. The target group consisted of 36 respondents from 13 countries which mostly represented national producer organisations (55%) and fish producer companies (39%). Main findings:

  • 98 % of the respondents highlight that a competent workforce is essential for aquaculture to progress.
  • Recruitment from local communities is considered important by over 80% of the participants.
  • More than 2 out of 3 persons consider the continuous updating of knowledge and skills to be important in order to keep up with fast technical developments.

The data has been gathered during the FEAP General Assembly Meeting which took place in Venice on May 19th, 2017.
